Poole of Light

1913 – The North of England is suffering from industrial decline and poverty is everywhere. People are moving to find new jobs and population growth in the cities is at a tipping point.

One economic migrant, Jeremiah Poole, is a ten-year old boy who – escaping an abusive childhood – is determined to make a brighter future for himself. The story charts the young boy’s rise from poverty to the glitz and glamour of the1930s cinema golden age.

But while success illuminates a path to wealth and privilege, is it really what he’s searching for? In a world where nothing is as it seems, and with another war looming, Jem struggles to find meaning to his life.
